  • STOP SPREADING FAKE NEWS

    YALI NETWORK

    YALICHECKS: Stop, Reflect, Verify Stop
We all get them — messages containing the latest news, opinions and gossip. Either from friends, family, or co-workers. From official and unofficial sources.

Anyone and everyone, it seems, is now a news reporter with a pressing story to share of the day.

And depending on that information, the urge to pass it on can be hard to resist. But should you?

    STOP

In this series, we’re going to talk about why, when it comes to information sharing, we should all stop, reflect and verify.

The open exchange of information is vital to productive societies and creates opportunities for learning and informed decision making. But a healthy amount of skepticism and the ability to evaluate what you’re reading and hearing is just as important. We call this *media literacy*.

Media literacy is thinking critically about the information you consume and share. Being media literate requires you to not only question who the news is coming from, but why and how that news is being communicated to you. Even the timing of the messages and who they’re directed to must be considered.

Was the story about the latest polling before the election true? Was it meant to elicit an emotional response? Was it meant to cause you to lose faith in the process? Who sent it, and why would it benefit them?

In the rapidly expanding and increasingly open information world in which we live, there are good and bad actors. It’s on you to commit to being a responsible promoter of reliable and credible information.  So before you share that story – STOP!  Reflect.

Every day, billions of people share billions of messages across social media. It’s a pretty good bet that one or more of those messages are going to find you. It’s also a pretty good bet that you’ll want to share a few of them with your social media network. But here again, the question is: Should you? Really?

One of the most important things that we as social media consumers and information sharers should know is that just because someone wrote something or put it in a video, doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s true. We’ve already recommended that when that juicy tidbit comes across your feed that you stop. Now let’s look at that piece of content and what it means. Let’s reflect.

    REFLECT

Being able to discern what is fact and what is just a matter of opinion, as well as taking the time to think deeply and carefully about what you’ve just seen, will make you a much smarter and responsible social media user or news consumer.

A fact is a piece of information that is verifiable, no matter how you look at it; say your height or shoe size.

An opinion, on the other hand, is a subjective point of view that’s not always true for everyone, everywhere.

Like who’s the greatest athlete in history. Both are vital pieces of news and information — as long as you understand the difference.  When someone forwards a story to you or you find something that piques your interest, it is always a good idea to determine just how credible it is.

Some of the savviest manipulators of news and information know that by adding just enough facts to make the story believable, they can grab your attention — for example, by using the name of a politician, a chief executive of a company, or the logo of a news channel. Many false and misleading news stories are designed to look in a way where you can’t tell the difference between what is fake and what is real.

Reflecting on the information before you share it involves reading the whole story, and not just the headline. That means examining your own biases and those of the person or organization that sent it to you. Ask yourself if multiple voices and viewpoints are represented. Are those voices credible? What is the evidence, and is it verifiable on other channels or websites?

So before you share that story – REFLECT!  Verify With billions of pieces of information passing through our social media feeds, text messages and apps, it’s prudent to have a healthy level of skepticism when it comes to what you see and hear. But as the volume of news and information grows, there’s also more and more ways that we can check their validity.

Knowing how to recognize what is incorrect and misleading information is getting more and more challenging. But there are resources and tools to help you verify whether something is true or false. So when someone shares a news article or video with you, don’t share it before you verify it.

    VERIFY

There are several things you can do to make sure you don’t become a participant in spreading false and misleading information.  Don’t be taken in by shocking or flashy headlines. Read the story that accompanies it. If the headlines greatly exaggerate or misrepresent the information in the story — don’t share it.

Also, misspellings and grammatical errors are usually a sign that something is not from a professional source. Be sure to make note of the facts cited in the story. And then do a search to see if you can verify them.

Check that the story includes the author’s name and a date. Check out other stories by the author to determine if that author is a legitimate news gatherer.

Search for the original source or another source for the information. Are other reputable organizations reporting the same thing? Is the individual or organization referenced confirming the story?

Use a fact-checking resource. There are several available on the web and many that are specific to what’s being reported in your region or country.  Finally, check your biases and the biases of not just the author, but the person sending it to you. Do they have an agenda?

Don’t participate in the spreading bad information.  So before you share that story – VERIFY it!

  • WhatsApp Launches Biometric Authentication for iOS Devices

WhatsApp Launches Biometric Authentication for iOS Devices

The much-anticipated feature “biometric authentication” on WhatsApp is now available! iOS users have started receiving an important Whatsapp update with the release of their latest build version 2.19.20.

The new update now allows users to lock their WhatsApp application natively by using the Face ID or the Touch ID. The new authentication feature has been in the course since October last year when the Face ID and Touch ID feature were added to the beta version of the social messaging application for the first time.

Once you have enabled the Face ID or Touch ID feature, the app will be completely protected, so the user will need to authenticate his/her identity in order to open WhatsApp (from the app icon, from the notification or from external pickers). It will protect the entire app, it means the feature doesn’t add the additional security to your individual WhatsApp conversations.

How do I thrill to the New Feature?
Firstly, update your Whatsapp to the latest version. Lock the WhatsApp app with Face ID or Touch ID by going toSettings > Account > PrivacyScreen Lock.Once you moved to the Screen Lock, the app shows the available authentication method – either Face ID or Touch ID – that you can enable to lock your WhatsApp.

You can also choose whether you want the biometric authentication requirement immediately or after an interval of a minute, 15 minutes, or an hour.

Enabling this means that privacy-conscious users can add an extra layer of security to the WhatsApp conversations – even if their device is unlocked.

WhatsApp for Android is also in the rumors to bring a similar form of authentication layer in the coming future.

How to Get 9Mobile 10GB For Just N2000 With 30 Days Validity

9Mobile is one of the best networks many people like for browsing, but the price of their data bundle is slim high. As we know the normal 9Mobile smartphone monthly plan of 2.5GB cost N2000 and to get 10GB data bundle on 9Mobile will cost you about N8000, but I’m here today to teach/flash you back on how you can easily get the 10GB Data plan for just N2000 on the 9Mobile network!

The offer is not new, this has been saving lives since 1900BC. It is one of 9Mobile official data plan and it was identified as cheapest/affordable data plans in Nigeria.

It is an interesting fact that 9mobile, Nigeria’s fourth largest network operator, offers you the option to subscribe for 1GB for N200 data. This has been working for many months ago and sometimes been called Ramadan Special Offer because the plan was unleashed during 2017 Ramadan period. The plan doesn’t zap, and best recommended for everyone. The validity period for this plan is just 3 days, in which you can resubscribe again once it expires.

In other words, you can get 5GB of data for just N1000 on the 9mobile network to last you for 15 days and 10GB for N2000 to last you for 30days. I do this every 3 days for N200, adding it up in a month, making N2,000 for 10GB, you can accumulate as many times as you wish but no auto renewal like the normal data plan from 9mobile.

To Subscribe to 9Mobile 1GB Data for N200
✓ Recharge your line with N200 and dial *929*10# to activate the offer.
✓ Subscription valid for 3 days.
✓ Dial *228# to check your data balance.

You may be receiving error messages when trying to activate the plan, just keep dialing the code and you will surely be activated for the plan.

Let’s do the simple mathematical calculation
    30÷3 = 10
This means you will pay N200, 10times to get 10GB for 30 days. This cannot be compared with the normal plan of N200 for 100MB or 150MB data. Even the grand masters of data, Glo offer just 8.7GB for N3000, so this is the best.

Just that the plan was limited to the small number of 9Mobile SIMs, which cause a headache for most people who are yet to benefit from the plan. Thank God, we have got the means for everyone to enjoy the offer. Simply check this link for the detail: 9Mobile Special Offer of N200 for 1GB Data: How to Make Ineligible Sim to Eligible for the Offer

In my observation of 9mobile network speed, it is faster in areas that cover 4G LTE and it’s available in almost all locations.

The 9Mobile Special offer is not something new, it has been posted much time on this blog for all the audience to benefit from it as it’s one of the cheapest that plan at this moment, some are rocking it codedly while others are busy draining the server of ntel data in locations available since it offers you free 10GB data on any sim purchased (ntel WAWU Sim).

If you don’t have a 9Mobile sim, you can simply get one for yourself and join the train.
Let us know via the comment if you are currently rocking this plan on the 9Mobile network.

How to Stream Live Football Matches On Facebook

Most fans prefer to watch sporting events live rather than recording them for later viewing. Watching football matches is more fun when others are around cheering, trash talk or commiserate. How we watch and interact with sports has changed dramatically over the last decade as social media has evolved.

Now, tech companies are bidding against each other and traditional media outlets for broadcasting rights as they try to develop new ways for fans to watch their favorite teams in action.

For those who don’t know yet, you can now use Facebook to stream any live match, be it EPL, UCL etc.

Unlike other streaming sources, you won’t be afraid of Data zap as it zaps a reasonable amount of data (at most 300MB) for a full match.
Do you know why it’s so? Because it saves you from annoying pop-up advertisements and the live stream is not in HD.

You can easily watch your favorite live football matches at the palm of your hand through Facebook on your mobile device or use PC/Desktop to enjoy live sports to the fullest with the widescreen.

How to Stream Live Football Matches On Facebook
It’s very easy, all you need to do is to search and add “Live” or “Live Now” to any ongoing match. And the live videos will come up from the search result. Take for example; Live Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur.

This is a good alternative for Mobdro and other live streaming mobile apps as you don’t have to worry about annoying pop-up ads and excessive deduction of data.

You can also apply this same trick to find and watch full-length movies/series too, as I normally use it to watch the latest episode of the Walking Dead every Monday.

If you found this post useful, please leave a comment and don’t forget to share the post.

  • What to do if you cannot view Pictures in your Android Gallery

What to Do If I Cannot View Pictures in Android Gallery?

Sometimes users would meet such a problem that they cannot view pictures in Android Gallery after taking or downloading photos with their devices.

If you are also one of these users, you must want to know the reasons for this issue and the solutions to solve this problem, right? Just take it easy and read on. This article will give you all the answers.

Part 1. Why Can’t I View Pictures in Android Gallery?

Part 2. What to Do If I Cannot See the Photos on Gallery?

Why Can’t I View Pictures in Android Gallery?

Why the issue that pictures disappear from Gallery happens? The reasons are various but there two main causes actually:

    1. The caches cause the malfunction
Once you open and manage the images in Gallery, there must be some caches created.

And certainly, the caches that the Gallery App generates one time are very small. But if you don’t clear them regularly, these caches will become a huge trash which would take up a lot of space of the device.

What’s worse, the caches will cause some issues also. For example, you will be unable to open and use the Gallery application smoothly and fail to view the pictures that you have saved in it.

    2. The images are saved as in Nomedia file

A .nomedia file is basically a blank file placed inside a folder with “.nomedia” as extension. When the device detects such kind of file, it would not scan the folder so the files like photos in that folder won’t appear in the Gallery App.

Thus, you need to make sure whether you have put the wanted pictures in the Nomedia file when you cannot see them in Gallery.

    You can also read:
Transfer & Backup Photos to An SD Card
How to Delete Photos from Google Photos?
What to Do If I Cannot See the Photos on Gallery?

Normally, to make the pictures visible in this case, you have two choices:

Option 1. Clear the caches of Gallery
The most common situation is that the pictures in Gallery are corrupted due to the App caches so you are unable to open and view them successfully.

In order to solve this problem, you need to delete the caches and useless data of the Gallery App. This would be easy:

Step 1. Go to the Home screen of your device and click on the Settings icon on it to open the application.

Step 2. In the Settings section, you need to find out the option Apps or Application Management and tap on it to display all the installed Apps on your device.

Step 3. Now you need to find the Gallery option from the listed applications and click on it to enter its App info page. On this page, you can see several options. Just tap on Clear cache and Clear data to remove the useless data from your device.

Option 2. Rename the Nomedia folder
It is possible that you have saved the photos in a .nomedia folder unwittingly or designedly to hide the image. So now, if you want to see them in the Gallery as usual, you need to delete them from the Nomedia folder or rename the folder to make them visible in Gallery. Then how to achieve this goal? You need to turn to an application- ES File Explorer . The whole process could be:

Step 1. Download and install the ES File Explorer on your Android phone.

Step 2. Next, you need to launch the file manager and find out the location of the images you want to display.

Step 3. Now just navigate to the folder and remove or rename the “.nomedia” file to make them visable.

Step 4. After that, you can restart your Android phone and go to the Gallery to see the pictures as usual.

  • 2018 Cross Over Service @ The Redemption Camp

2018 Cross Over Service @ The Redemption Camp

2018 Cross Over Service @The Redemption Camp

    Ministering: Pastor E.A Adeboye

We give you all the glory, we give you honour, we give you all the glory, we give you honour. Amen

    Text: Luke 2:13-14
Most of the times when we are doing any form of thanksgiving, we focus the attention on ourselves; oh am grateful am healed, I got a new job and grateful for this and am grateful for that but here the angels teaches us the focus of our thanksgiving should not be us but for God.

For the next few minutes before we enter the new year, we want to thank God for God not for you and not for me. We want to thank God the father, the greatest giver in Genesis 2:7, we see God the father, is the giver of life, He formed man from the dust and breath on Him the breath of life.

In Johns 3:16, the bible says for God so loved the world, He gave His begotten son, He gives everlasting life. In James 1:5, If any man lack wisdom, he should ask, He is the giver of wisdom.

In 1 Timothy 6:17, He gives us richly all things to enjoy. In Psalm 68:19, He loads us with benefits, the yorubas call Him Olodumare. In Psalm 23:5, David said thou prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

When we talk of numbers, they have meanings, when we get to 7, we say, it is the number of perfection but there is something greater than perfection.

In James 1:17, The bible says every good and perfect gift comes from the father, should I hear somebody shout, thank you God the Father, thank you God the Son, John 15:13, He says God the son is your greatest friend. He is not only your greatest friend, in John 13:1, It tells you, His friendship is forever.

Many of us has had friends that disappointed us. You have people who pretends to be your friends when all is well but the moment things dry up, the mock God the son.

Hebrews 13:8, He Loves you all the time. He will be my friend in 2019. In Hebrews 13:5, it says, I will never leave you or forsake you. Psalm 121:5, it tells you how close His friendship is, His friendship is close as shadow. He doesn’t die, He is by your side 24/7 for the rest of your life.

Thank you God the son for giving to us your name, John 14:14, He gives us a blank cheque, just make sure His name is there as your signatory. We want to thank God the Son for His name and you will discover why we must thank God for His name in 2019.

You need that name in 2019. In year 2019, witches, wizards will bow, every mountain will bow. Amen
We want to thank God for the son, for His blood.

The blood that brings us salvation, victory. We want to thank God for the sun Colossians 1:27, He is our hope of glory.

We want to thank God the Holy Spirit. What will our life be without the comforter, John 14:26. Thank God for the comforter. I won’t go into details but I will thank the comforter again, again and again.

We want to thank the Holy Spirit for power, Acts 1:8. Power from the Holy Spirit. Let me hear somebody say, Thank you the Holy Spirit.

    Psalm 67:5-7
If you praise God the Son, your promotion will be accelerated

When you praise God for God the Holy Spirit, He will give you ability to prophesy.

For the next few minutes, thank God the Father, thank God for the Son and Thank God for the Holy Spirit.

We are going to shout 3 powerful halleluyah, 1st for God the Father, the 2nd for God the Son, and the 3rd for God the Holy Spirit

This year, please focus your attention on God and let Him do the rest that He need to do for you. The problem we have is that we have been focusing too much on ourselves.

This year 2019, with all pleas, don’t miss the Holy Ghost Service, because God helping me (Daddy G.O), by the time this year 2019 is ending, you will not be asking God to deliver you from witches or wizards or demons, you will be saying wherever the demons are, they should come out.

You won’t be praying for healing, you will be looking for who to pray for and they will receive healing.

God has no pleasure in the sacrifice of a sinner. He says the sacrifice of a sinner is an abomination to Him, if you say thank you father, He will say shut your mouth, if you say thank God the son, He will say shut your mouth and if you say thank God the Holy Spirit, He will say shut your mouth because my name is Holy.

If the 4G LTE coverage is available in the city you are living in Nigeria and you still do not use the 4G network, then you have not experienced the swift power of browsing. Nigeria is about to move out completely from 3G to 4G network world since the 4 major networks in Nigeria (MTN, Glo, Airtel, and 9Mobile) are already offering the 4G internet network to their customers, efforts are ongoing to spread the 4G coverage to all cities and states in Nigeria.

Each of the NG networks is given out amazing data bonus to users who purchase their 4G SIM or those who swap to the 4G LTE network SIM, which is the means to cajole everyone to purchase their 4G SIM.

The offer comes with a massive 4GB + 25% data bonus on all data plans purchased for 3 months.
